Bloch, S (1993). “Alba Emoting: A Psychophysiological Technique to Help Actors Create and Control Real Emotions”,Theatre Topics, 3 (2): 121-138.

Alba Emoting, by establishing precise, simple, and universal patterns of emotional expression, allows any person to have a better mastering of their emotions. It is therefore a powerful and concrete instrument that helps to develop, among other things, emotional intelligence.
The system has proved to be useful for different areas of human activities, –psychology, performing arts, education, scientific research, communications, management of social and
business organizations– and every day it attracts more a diverse variety of professionals.
One of the areas where the results of its use appears as most spectacular is the performing arts, for which obviously an adequate mastering of emotional expression is fundamental.
Alba Emoting implies a new methodology for expressing emotions on the stage, as it gives the actors the possibility to activate their emotional systems without necessarily have recourse to more classical procedures such as “emotional memory” or “mental imagery”.
From another angle, actors are, from the purpose of Alba Emoting, ideal experimental subjects for the study of emotions and for scientifically evaluating the method’s validity.
The following article is one of he latest published on the subject and it summarizes the experience of many years of the work Susana Bloch has done utilizing her method with actors both for scientific research as well as for the actors practical use.
