In strictly psychophysiological terms Alba Emoting implies that the mere correct excecution of the prototypical physical actions (respiratory patterns, postural attitudes and facial expressions) will affect what the performer “feels”. In other word, it induces the emotion.
This is what SB has called, using an engineering term, a "bottom-up” method of activation. What is remarkable with Alba Emoting can be precisely summed up by this "bottom up" expression, Which means from the periphery (effector patterns via voluntary muscular activation) to the brain centers, so that the “felt” emotion or the emotional experience proper may be generated from the physical organism upwards to the mental sphere.
Since Alba Emoting is a "bottom-up” procedure, it opens the possibility to generate real emotions starting from the referred “respiratory-posturo-facial” patterns.
The following article is an experimental study in which the subjective activation that occurs when a person reproduces the mentioned “effector patterns”, is systematically analyzed through the subject’s reports.
